Question:

Why do we have to wash all clothing when exterminating bed bugs?

We have bed bugs in our house and we're getting the company to come and to exterminate them. We are told to wash all of our clothing before the process and to put them in standard bags. But I think it sounds stupid to wash everything, since it's so much of stuff!! How can those chemicals or whatever they're going to spray there affect our clothing? Can we leave them open during the process and wash them after?

  1. To remove insect and their eggs which are in fabric like bedding and clothing.......and carpeting.

  2. Clothes and bedding must be washed to get rid of the bugs and their eggs, and you should use the hottest water that you can to do this.

  3. Greta,

Yes, you wash everything before or during but they can not spray all of your clothes and bedding etc - they will not get everywhere with the spray.   And the baby bedbugs and the eggs are incredibly small so they can be missed.

You may want to look into whther or not there is a solution you cna add to your laundry that will help with killing the little bugs and eggs that may be in it.  I knwo that Kleen-Free is used during washing luandry for scabies mites and it is used to control bedbugs as well so maybe it would work for bedbugs laundry duty.

I know you should use VERY hot water.  If you have yoru own water heater, I would trun it up to teh hottest possible for the day you are doing the laundry but be careful not to burn your self or someone else in the house that day.

Good luck.  You can get rid of them but it takes work.

  4. because the stuff they use for the BUGS is not very good for you or your skin

  5. okk.  so the bugs will get onto EVERYTHING && hide thier eggs there. soo theyr telling u 2 take ur stuff && clean it REALLII good soo ull get rid of them. u should stay at a family member or friends house && make sure u wash EVERYTHING b4 going there that u need. while there, u can wash all ur stuff && make sure not to contaminate anything not washed w. anything alredy clean. thats y u should use bags,, soo u dont contaminate everything. if u dont u might hav 2 go through the WHOLLLEE process agen && u dont want that 2 happen. theyr telling u 2 NOT leave them there bcuz the stuff, it doesnt get everywhere. it alredy takes them a LONG time 2 exterminate the house,, soo itll take longer 2 clean out the clothes && everything else. u hav 2 do it,, i kno it sux. im so sorry && hope i helped!!

  6. They  easily  get  into  clothing  and  it  would  take  too  much  chemical  to  saturate  the  clothing  and  the  bedding .

You  wash  the  clothes  to  kill  the  bugs  and  bag  it  to  keep  the  fleeing  bugs  out .

If   you  don't  wash  it ,  you  will have  spent  $$$$$$$$  for  the  exterminator and

You  will  have  the  bugs  all  around  in  a  few   weeks  again .

  7. Clothes must be washed to exterminate all bedbugs and their eggs as bedbugs can lay eggs in fabrics not just beds, this is the reason the exterminator has instructed you to wash your clothes and linens Good Luck !
