Question:

Why do we have tornado season?

Why are some months of the year riskier for severe weather and tornadoes? I know here in PA, the risk goes up from may to July, then drops off for August. Why is that? It's typically very hot and humid here in August, so what would change as far as the weather is concerned to make the tornado risk less?

  1. warm temperatures are what makes it possible for convective activity like thunderstorms to happen. between may and july, it is very warm and when a cold front from the north moves through the warm air existing...severe weather becomes much more possible. hope i helped!

  2. Cause Canada likes to send nasty cold fronts down that create convection currents that cause tornadoes:P
