they accurately predict the weather less than 50% of the time. If your work performance was that bad you would be unemployed.

  1. cause it helps the less than 50% that we know the weather accurately

  2. Well they are probably lucky in the fact that it is not possible to predict the weather more than 50% of the time then they would be in trouble.

I took a weather class in college and found that predicting the weather is really really hard, a slight shift in the wind can change everything, it is even harder to predict it more than 3 days out.

  3. LOL, I always say I wish I had that job, since no one makes a

big deal out of your being wrong w/ the weather report. :>)

  4. Meteorologists' understanding of the complexity of weather runs deep. Therefore, those trying to point out meterologists' alleged inaccuracies clearly have no understanding of weather at all- not even enough understanding to be able to trust what they deem as "inaccurate".

  5. Because being right and knowing 50% of the time is a lot better than being completely in the dark. The only way science ever evolved was through making FALSE theories, testing them out, and seeing what was correct and what was not. Every time predictions are wrong, they can fine-tune their predictions just a bit more for next time. Also, it is impossible to predict the outcome 100% when there are massive numbers of variables...every movement contributes to the wind pattern, and thus ALL weather.
