I mean if were not on in the lead or not winning we make a big deal, I mean there was a time when America never dominated the Olympics in fact our medal count doesn't even compare to what the soviet union had or Germany. Isn't the Olympics about the time when the world joins to getter in great sportsman ship, so what if China is in the lead in Gold medals when we win there happy when they win were sore losers(well most of us)

America didn't even start to dominate till 1996, and plus NO One wins the Olympics if they did the if would been an obstacle coarse with each athlete doing every sport

and also so what if China might have Communist tendencies they were chosen because they have thousands of years of culture and China needed this to become less isolated

Also and us hating of China Cause they have higher gold only fuels the stereotype of us being arrogant

  1. We don't it is the news reporter that says it's important

    .

What happens there is not going to change anybodies life if they are not in the winners spot

    ,

Turn the channel and it is not even a  memory of who won the race to most people today

    .

  2. You letting it bother you has ruined the games for yourself. You can enjoy the games and not pay any attention to it, that is an option. If you don't want to hear Bob Costas make a biased opinion or look at medal counts just hit the mute button and when a sport is on then take the mute button off.

  3. Cuz the US needs to be number one.  Any notion in any topic the puts us as #2 ruins our "image".  Afterall, the world is inlove with the American dream...if our image is ruined, what else is left?  Just subprime mortgages and an adulterating POTIS.

  4. You're right. The Olympics used to be about sportsmanship and competition, about honor and national pride.

Now it's all about money and gamesmanship, money and circumventing the rules, and fame and money.

Will it improve the quality of life for the average American if Michael Phelps wins 126 gold medals? It'll bring Phelps a ton of endorsement offers and make him a rich SOB but that edlferly lady in Topeka will still have to decide if she wants to buy her medicines or food next month.

The spirit of the Olympics is dead and the sooner we do away with this outdated ooncept the better off we'll be. It's not about nations anymore. It's all about people; money-grubbing, manipulative parasites that feed on society. These Olympics are a sham.

  5. Because the countries want to show off how good they r at sports and if ur country doesnt win, the other country that won would be insulting them

  6. Hmm, I don't think its a matter of winning and getting big fat paychecks for bringing in any color medal. The true spirit of sports that the Olympics embodies has been lost for some time now. Now politics and money dominates the Games. Whatever happen to real sportsmanship? So typical of people to be sore losers and arrogant after winning A medal. Have we found the Singapore spirit?

  7. Actually, America has the all time lead in the medal count by a good margin. We also have the record for most medals in a single Olympic games, and no it's not been since 1996 that we have dominated, in 1904 Americans brought home 245 medals (78-85-82). That was pure dominance.

But as the commercial says, "We cheer because they are human, and when they win, we all win," so I cheer for all humans doing things that are simply spectacular. I want Americans to come out victorious, of course, anyone who puts that many years of preparation into something deserves applause
