Why do we need family relationships?

  1. The primary reason is that the family offers a level of support that one cannot obtain in any other way.  One can try out new aspects of ones personality with family and still be accepted in the morning, while in many casual or friend-type relationships one would be reluctant to be other than who and what ones friends expect one to be.

What causes this is the fact that when one is in a "family", the members of that family are individuals with whom one has Karma, or unfinished business from the past.  This means there are ties that can be ages long in duration, and thus the relationships are more intense, intensely motivating, supporting, demanding, and loyal.

Loyalty is a major theme in family, and again it is something whose foundation can be very strong and  a great deal of tolerance can be found in a family that cannot be had outside of the family.

The virtues of trust, love, respect, tolerance, patience, and support are natural dimensions of a family, whereas in even friends they are rarely found... and certainly not unconditional.

So for those Souls whose Fate Karma in this life is to be well grounded in self-love, self-confidence, and a sense of support... the family is the perfect launching platform.

I suspect there are few "only child" individuals who have not at some time passed a house filled with family around Christmas time and not had a deep longing that one might experience that oneself.

    Peace
