  1. Well it depends on what area of field you are going into. For example, I know who says he uses geometry a lot more compared to calculus in life. It all depends on what kind of working field you are going into. If you mean in general, learning geometry will actually help you in life. Doing geometry, you need algebra, and trying to find out how many caramal bars you can get for $20 if each costs $2.00 requires algebra. r teacher is right, stay in school and trust me, geometry is nothing man. Wait till you get into uni and start performing some ridiculous geometric calculations in algebra or calculus...

  2. It all depends on your personal view about it.  For me I don't see any need for football or basketball as far as life is concerned.  So, I don't see why bother about it.  But, of course, those out there would contend that they love these sports and they can't live without it!  So, no amount of 'bitching' on the part of your geometry teacher will convince you about the need to learn geometry as it looks like you have convinced yourself that it is pointless to study geometry.

We don't study something simply because we don't have 20 things that we can enumerate for which it will be used in our daily life.  There are just as many subjects that won't fill up those 20 things and therefore, following, your line of argument do not deserve to be studied at all.

The principles of geometry are used extensively in many areas such as engineering, mathematics, architecture, astronomy, etc.  Plus, the training one gets in logic is more than enough reason why geometry should be studied.

  3. The purpose of geometry is an abstract concept. You can really qunatify it easily. But for example, it is important for in cooking, geometry is used in measuring volume of ingredients. As well as in medicine, art (proportion and perspective). And more so in engineering and architecture. Furthermore, geometry is the stepping stone to other mathematics and sciences like analytical geometry, trigonometry, calculus, physics.

  4. To build anything requires geometry.

Draftsmen, engineers, carpenters, computer graphics artists.

People who don't need any sort of geometry:   Winos.

  5. I bet she comes up with something, sorry

  6. You are going to use a ton of geometry in your life.  If you redo a yard, how much sod do you buy?  Any time you measure anything, you are using geometry.  Figuring out how far your gas tank will take you is algebra, but knowing if the tank is big enough to hold enough gas for the journey is geometry.  If you ever build anything, you will need geometry. The list goes on and on.  It's Calculus and trigonometry you will probably never use.
