Question:

Why do we need human company?

I had a thought, do you think it is critical that we have constant human companionship or we go insane? I mean when we first came onto the earth we wouldn't have interacted with each other as much because we were independent and our communication hadn't quite developed till later. I recently watched the movie "into the wild" and the main character goes out into the wilderness hoping for a time of solitude. And in the movie "the beach" a character goes insane from being alone for so long. Im just thinking everytime we evolve or adapt to something there's always a down side.In this case we have evolved and our communication has improved but along side this we cant live without eachother.

  1. YEH...THE ANSWER ITSELF LIES IN UR QUESTION !

  2. Not all communication is verbal. In fact, studies show that most communication is non-verbal, so maybe just being around other people satisfies our company needs. Our early ancestors may not have been able to communicate verbally, but maybe just being around their family members allowed them to retain their sanity.

It's impossible to find a human on earth that doesn't have a mother and/or father. Therefore we're all born with a caretaker that we must learn to communicate with for survival.

Your motivation to survive is located is regulated by the hypothalamus. Therefore, unless you lose your hypothalamus, your will to survive will not go away. This means that your need to communicate won't go away. Which means that yes, you would go crazy if you were to be alone for the rest of your life.

It seems all too logical to me.

  3. We need human company to communicate. Communicate our thoughts and feelings.  Be close. I, personally, would not live alone on this planet, even if I had all my heart desired .  All, but humans.....

  4. It depends on the person.

If the person was introverted and looked for solitude, that sort of thing would not drive you insane.

While in the character in 'The Beach', he was forced into solitude and had not prepared for it or did not have the right personality for it.

  5. I don't think it's company that is vital, but worthwhile company. Of course, I could be wrong. I think that having another person around always makes us think that that will lead us to getting to know another person that we are even more interested in.
