Question:

Why do we need so many new laws and curbs on our freedom?

Governments these days seem to think their only job is to think of new laws to pass. Inevitably that means we are being more controlled and spied on. I would like to see a government which applies itself to giving us more freedom over trivial things while excercising strong control over serious offences.

A good start would be for Parliament to spend some serious time comming up with a long overdue Bill of Rights so that our existing freedoms don't continue to be erroded.

It is necessary to have laws and punishment of anti-social crimes like murder, rape, theft and assault.

If people want to ride in a car with no seatbelt, a motor bike with no helmet, smoke in designated rooms which non smokers don't need to go in then let them. The usual excuse for interference is that they cost the health service but in fact smokers pay a fortune in tax to cover their healthcare and drivers could be required to pay a health insurance premium if they wanted to take the added risk of injury for not wearing a seatbelt or helmet.

Censorship should be limited to harmful subjects such as extreme violence which may be copied. Censorship on strictly moral grounds such as nudity and non violent s*x is some people trying to impose their personal values on other people and should not be allowed.

Someone should tell the Government that their job is to govern, not to sit there all day trying to justify their salaries by trying to think of new laws to pass.

What do you think?

  1. I agree. We have the same problem here in the U.S. nothing but new laws all the time. It has become burdensome. There should be a new law that says that for any lew law they pass they have to take 2 old ones off the books. Eventually they will get to a core of absolutely necessary ones they cannot do without. Then we can fire all the lawmakers and save a ton of money by not having to pay them anymore.

  2. I've ever ment the similiar thing -- still a little bit annoy, here is the resource tha help me out.http://health-insurance.onlinebestoffer....

  3. Why can't a woman take money for s*x but can give it away? Why can a person drink untill every brain cell in their brain is gone, but can't smoke some weed in their own home? Why do call ourslves free when we can't even put what we want into OUR own bodies? It is my body, if I want to smoke some weed in my house, and don't bother anyone else,Why can't I? Why shoud we fill our prisons with people who did not hurt anyone except possibly themselves? I don't see much down side to s*x and pot. How much time and money is spend inforcing these crimes? I agree a person can eat themselves into a heart attack, diabeties, obesity, and get Health insurance, how is that less costly than smoking?

  4. A basic libertarian approach to government.

I agree overall, but I'd rather see a series of juries, composed of everyday people drawn by lottery, review all laws and throw out the ones that don't make sense.

  5. Because there are too d**n many of us in this world...

    ...more people = more variables.

  6. We don't enforce the ones we have, even the good ones.  We allow our leader to violate the bill of rights and our own people by illegal wiretapping, etc.  When we are finally sold off to the foreign nations look for a war crimes trial.
