  1. Crude Biodiesel is Washed because Leftover Lye, Methanol, and Other Chemicals that are unreacted can cause problems for a vehicle that need to be cleaned out.

  3. During the purification process of tri-glyceride oils into Bio-diesel, Glycerol is removed and excess materials are reduced to soaps. These soaps can damage vehicles if they are not removed, especially if the oil is being re-cycled from an hydrogenated source.

    The cleaning process can be achieved reliably in one of two ways- water washing (since water sinks beneath the oil) will remove soaps. Alternatively, ion-exchange resins will remove them. Either way is reliable.
