Question:

Why do we never get the ICE SKATING championships on TV any more. No wonder it isn't as popular as it was?

I love figure skating but it only seems to be shown as part of some silly Ice Dancing for people whom are "personalities" and can't do it.

Is this supposed to demonstrate how easy it is. Ask Jenna McCorkill ( British Ladies Champion ) how much she has put into it over the years.

Why couldn't we see the competition

  1. Because, unfortunately, ice skating does not give the tv networks the ratings that bring lots of money.

  2. If it's dancing on ice that you're referring to - surely a programme like this will spark interest in the sport from people who wouldn't have given it a second thought?  It will be really good for the future of ice skating in the UK.

  3. I agree with you, but unfortunately many people, especially skaters who watch TV don't like the commentators. The skaters don't like their comments about what they say on TV. Also, many other people in would rather watch football or soccer rather than figure skating. Therefore, these people make the ratings go down for figure skating commentating, which cuts the amount of time figure skating appears on TV, and causes them to lose money because their sponsers pull out of their agreement.

  4. I'm just as annoyed as you.

For the past week, all that's been on prime time bbc2 is darts. Who on earth wants to watch darts?! It's not even a sport! More people enjoy watching ice skating, and the skaters are a lot prettier!
