Why do we only see cells dividing at the "root tip"?

  2. Dividing cells can be found in various parts of a plant, stem tip, cork cambium, and vascular cambium as well as developing fruits.  Root tips are more easily harvested and sectioned so they are used commonly in lab classes to observe mitosis.

    Animal embryos are often used for the same reason to observe mitosis in animal cells.  Whitefish blastula are often used to see mitosis in animal cells.
