Why do we park in a DRIVEWAY but drive on a PARKWAY?

  5. A driveway is a type of private road for local access to one or a small group of structures, and is owned and maintained by an individual or group. Thus, it is too small to drive on.

    Whereas a parkway is a broad landscaped thoroughfare; especially : one from which trucks and other heavy vehicles are excluded; therefore you have to drive on it.

    Personally, I think both concepts were invented to confuse us.

    It's pretty fun actually...
