Why do we pay for commercials when we watch satellite - satellite tv.?

I understand commercials on open ai tv but why on tv we paid for

Because you're paying only for the satellite signal.  You're paying for the transmission medium, not the content.  The people who produce the content make their money through advertising.   This is why premium cable channels like HBO charge you - they make their money through subscriptions, so they don't need to sell advertising.  Do you really want to pay $15 per month each for ABC, CBS, NBC, and FOX (as well as others) on top of the cable and satellite bills?
