Question:

Why do we plant trees?

Well- lets see. When it comes to environmental issues, the tree huggers and the greens say, "Plant some trees!" why trees? Why not roses, some various climbers, cacti ?!! (due to water restrictions/water issues in my country cacti might be interesting...) or even some native plants? So, why generalize it all and say, "Plant some trees!" Shouldn't we say, "Plant some greens!"?

  6. I get what you're saying. A single tree definitely produces more oxygen than  \a small plant. But, you can plant lots of small plants in the shadow of a single tree. So the question is which produces more per acre or something like that which would make a nice experiment for someone. I'm sure people have asked this before.

I think the answer is that trees require a bigger commitment and progress is much easier to see. Plus, shrubs and bushes don't look as nice and its much easier to change your mind and mow them over.

  7. Trees last alot longer.

  8. trees grow wood and trees produce more oxegen.

  9. By doing photosynthesis plants use carbon dioxide and produce oxygen, trees are bigger so do it way more.  But planting anything is good :)

  10. we plant trees to save our planet by eliminating the harmful effects of the green house effect at the present :)
