Why do we put up with paying Councils more to do less for us?

Aside from going cap in hand to them to have our bins emptied, here is another example of them being out of touch with providing a service.

My mother who is 78 rang Hull City Council about her Council House garden which is getting out of control (Dad died last year). At he fourth time of trying, she got through to someone who told her that because she has a son (I live 200 miles away), she would have to make her own arrangements to have it tidied.

Is this service, I would hang my head in shame if I was in charge!

It's not just me that thinks this way then ?

We're supposed to live in a democracy, yet I don't remember voting to just keep automatically paying more and more in Council Tax despite the poor service.

( my Green Garden bin still has last Autumns leaves in it, despite numerous phone calls !)

(Last collection, the plastic bottle recycling box was ignored, although it was with the others ! Would you believe a seperate vehicle collects the plastic bottles !!! )

I have asked on numerous occasions what I should do with several " food grade " plastic containers, the Town Hall don't know ! The man " in charge " of the depot where all the refuse / recycling vehicles come from, doesn't know !!!!

Recycling is an utter farce ! No-one is interested in making it efficient or cost effective.

It is done to avoid fines from the E.U. !!!!  No other reason !!!

We public are nuts for putting up with it !

We are paying to heat water to wash out milk cartons etc. which only uses more fossil fuels adding to the " carbon footprint "

It has got to the stage where I am thinking of witholding some of my payments !

3 years ago in November, I rang the Police to tell them some youths with Vodka bottles were on my outbuilding new roof. The reply, and I quote exactly,

" Damage to private property  is not a priority at 10.30pm on a Friday night !!!! "

So I rang 999 ! and told them that the local police had refused to come out !  Their reply, exact quote,

" Quite right Sir, they are busy with drunks outside pubs and clubs at this time of night, they have not got the man-power !AND you should not be using 999 for what is not classed as an emergency !!! "

There were 6 or 7 youths, all drinking, but I told THE 999 lady I was not going to stand by and watch £thousands of new roof tiles be destroyed, I said I would take a length of 3inch x 2inch  timber the roofers had left behind and break it over their backs and slammed the phone down !   I was furious !

It took me about 3 or 4 minutes to get my shoes on and pick a length of timber, as I went outside not one but 3 police vans and cars arrived !!!!!

No manpower to protect my property !

but enough to protect the yobs !!!!

My problem is not the Police, they do a fantastic job under very difficult circumstances, there just are not enough of them !

Maybe if we paid the M.P.'S LESS, AND LESS EXPENSES AND 2nd Home ALLOWANCES ETC. there would be enough money to clean the streets / collect the rubbish, clean the hospitals, etc.

and protect the population and their property eh ?

I won't hold my breath though !!!!

I wonder how many more people feel the same way ?
