Question:

Why do we read the Bible when so many versions are out there?

It seems pointless to me. Which version is right? How do we know which version is right? There seems to be tons of mistranslations and/or alter versions of the Bible. So, again, why bother reading the Bible?

When it comes to the King James Version, I believe that God would not want King James's name on his word. So, that version must be wrong.

HELP!!!

  1. Who's we? You got a t**d in your pocket?

Don't bother reading it, if you take it seriously, it will mess you up ( any version )  God never wrote it, and if he had it would have been 2-4 mil ago, which would make it outdated.  Subscribe to reality.

  2. Why are there so many types of food?

We should just eat grass like cattle. Yummy.

    Best regards.

  3. I hope you get your ......."HELP" !!

  4. Different modes of expression.

    Same text.

  5.   The  KJV  of  the Bible  is the one  that  has not been

translated,,it  is  the same as it,s been since  written

God,s  word is true and  the only  way  to understand it

is to be lead  by  the Spirit of  God,

that,s  why it,s  so  misunderstood,  people  try  to read

it  carnally,,and it,s has to be read spititually

  6. The Catholic Church compiled the Bible so you cannot take away what was already there. The KJV was compiled by King James in the Protestant Reformation Era in the 15th Century he took away 7 books and had some texts mistranslated that didn't suit the Protestant reformation theology, since that time 39000 Protestant Christian denomination's can be found today with several versions of the Bible. The Catholic Bible is the same as it was compiled in the beginning. King James had a Bible to suit his and Luther's reformation theology!.

  7. Go to http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/ and you can compare all the versions you want.

  8. your version is the right one , you just need to believe in Jesus.

  9. Your question is a very important one, because when it comes to the Word of God, accuracy is crucial.

The King James bible was produced during the Protestant reformation when revolutionaries were introducing novel doctrines, and so be wary - this translation is biased in that direction.

With a little research you will find that there are two very reliable translations out there:

    1. Douay-Rheims (translation of Saint Jerome's original Latin Vulgate, compiled from ORIGINAL texts - all later bible translators did not have access to original texts as Jerome did)

    2. Revised Standard Version (a comprehensive revision of the King James Version, this one is readable and more literally accurate)

    Peace be to you all+

  10. If you are serious about exploring this question, you must take a look at the Nag Hammadi Scriptures, rediscovered in the 1940s in Egypt. They include a number of previously unknown gospels such as the Gospel of Thomas and the Gospel of Philip, which have transformed scholars' notions about the early history of Christianity.

There is a wonderful new edition of the Nag Hammadi Scriptures edited by Marvin Meyer. Elaine Pagels also has an excellent book on the subject called The Gnostic Gospels.

Honestly, if you're already questioning which version of the Bible is correct, it will blow your mind.

  11. you got two excellent answers one is by Veritas, and the other one just directly below it, sweetie or something in the name. I agree with them 100 percent. You are correct that the kjv of (The Bible) are incorrect. Go to the source that gave the world the bible, which is the catholic church, the kjv, had too much taken out, namely books, that is why the catholic bible is much bigger. Makes sence , huh?

  12. The same reason that we read the newspaper when it comes in so many different languages..

  13. It is only called the King James bible because, he is the guy who commissioned and bankrolled the translation.  Up until then if one wanted to read the Bible one had to learn latin or greek and hebrew.

Most Bible translations are not cascaded translations, or at least they are all cascaded in the same way.  In other words the translation a, is not a translation of b which was a translation of c, and so on.

Most Bible translations will go back to the earliest known writings that have survived.

Some Bible version will go beyond translations and paraphrase or amplify the text in an attempt to capture the meaning from a more cultural than literal standpoint.

None of this is a secret. Most modern versions give a detail accounting of their translation methodology, in the beginning of the book.

One thing to try is to take the time to read those methods and determine which methods you think are the most sound and read that version.

    Hope that helps.

  14. The oracles of God were committed to the Jews (Rom. 3:2).

James is the first king on the throne with a Jewish name. In the NT there is James the Great, and James the Lord's brother. Further more James is Jacobos - Jacob - in Hebrew.

The Bible says "honour the king" - 1 Pet. 2:17

    Also:

"Where the word of a king is, there is power..." Ecc. 8:4

When God moves nationally, he does so through kings. We have 2 books in our Bible named "Kings." Jesus Christ is the KING OF KINGS!

When it comes to English Bibles, the one that came from England commissioned by the King is the one to bet on.

We measure tempurature by absolute temperature - the BTU from England.

We measure absolute time by Greenwich in England.

We measure absolute location (long-lat) from England.

The early 1600s marks the time when the English language was its most mature level, and at a time when it was most capable of rendering other languages with finesse and precision.

Therefore, when it comes to English Bibles, we also measure absolute truth from England.

The manuscripts behind the KJV were provided by the blood of martyrdom. The manuscripts behind the new versions were maintained by those who martyred the Christians which preserved the authentic manuscripts.

The KJV is the version that brought 3 great awakenings to the world, and the largest missionary movement EVER. More people have been saved under the preaching of the KJV than were saved during the first five centuries AD. I use that version because it's obviously the one God uses.

Directly addressing your comment, King James' name on a Bible is an indicator of its authenticity - not a detractor from it. If I were going to choose a version for no other internal or manuscript reasoning, I'd choose the one bearing the name of King James.

Besides, if you still have an issue with that name, then render it as the Believers rendered it starting it 1650 based on the testimony of the Holy Spirit that was conveyed in its contents: The Authorized Version.

  15. Last i heard The Bible today matches up to the oldest copies with 98 percent accuracy, alot of the mistranslations are just language barrier things, and i dont think they do alot of damage. The Bible is the most well preserved ancient document, that cannot be denied by anybody regardless of faith.

    And for anybody reading,

Jesus died to save you from your sins, and he wants to be a part of your life, if you want to know him as your lord and God and Savior, pray this simple prayer, and mean it from the bottom of your heart.

    Dear Lord Jesus,

I know that I am a sinner, and have come short of the glory of God

I know that you are the Son of God

    Born of the Virgin Mary

That died to save me from my sins

I believe that you died to save me from my sins, and I invite you into my life to be my savior and my Lord.

Forgive me of my sins dear lord, make me the kind of person you want me to be.

If you prayed this prayer, and meant it from the bottom of your heart, you are a Christian now and I welcome you into the family. I would appreciate it if you let me know that you have prayed this prayer and feel free to ask me ANY question you may have.

    Take care

God Bless You And Always Be With You,

    Kenny

And for anybody reading, feel free to contact me about ANYTHING, I love meeting new people!

  16. Because It's God's word. I admit it the translations has some errors, but overall they're still trustworthy. All the translations virtually agree, except with some differences in spelling, punctuation, and language. Comparing 2 translations makes studying the Bible easier.

  18. there only one bible there are help bible that clear up things but one bible god bless

  19. The people owned the bible that I owned would have been killed by law in year 325 AD. This banned bible is the only bible I read and believed. The rest are just the inferior copy of the original. It was original because it was written by disciple of Jesus. It is the most readable and clear message without doubt and is consistent to Islamic beliefs.

  20. thats why muslims and jews dont accept it

  21. The KJV is the best translation.

King James' name is only on there because he paid for the cost of the translation. He was the sponsor.

  22. Get the bible in its original text thats what I did a lot of things where changed in every version

  23. ALL bibles are only man made plagiarized myths stolen from earlier civilizations.

  24. The New Testament is very translatable so given that english translations actually do significantly differ over some verses shows that there has been some spanners thrown into the works along the way...

Its easy to get the NT translation pretty accurate without knowing Greek by just downloading the free Concordant Version and Youngs Literal Translation from this website:- http://www.scripture4all.org/

The Old Testament is full of tricky bits of Hebrew and given the large and numerous differences over the more complicated verses of Hebrew it takes more careful study to find the accurate translations - or else you just check everything against the NT to see the truthfulness of the OT verses...

Anyhow all scripture is God breathed (as originally written) and it takes the Holy Spirit (the Spirit of Truth) to reveal the truth or error of scriptures and other writings

    - God's promise says the Holy Spirit is available to all who believe in Jesus Christ as the God's Son and that the Holy Spirit will lead all believers into ALL truth...

  25. God always picked the most unlikely people to do His will and King James was definitely one of the most unlikely.  The King James Version is not copyrighted.  All others are and that alone tells me something.  The fear of the King would keep the translaters on their toes and because the King didn't like the Pope would be another reason for him to want the Bible accurate, because the Pope was so against the Bible being translated into English or tranlated into any language other than Latin.  The Pope wanted the Bible translated by the Priests so that he could hold the people captive and control them for profit.  A bad Pope is not a good thing.  And remember all Popes are just mere men.  A really bad Pope can show up at anytime.  The next Pope is predicted to be the False Prophet as predicted by a Catholic Bishop years ago.

Do not ever forget that "you are the Temple of God" and the kingdom of God is within you.

James is a form of Jacob and never in history has such doubt and confusion over the Bible existed as it does today.

As God promised, He has preserved His Word for the English people in the King James Bible.  Proverbs 16:10 says, "a divine sentence is in the lips of the King...."  Ecclesiastes 8:4 says, "Where the word of a King is, there is power..."  King James . . . James is not an English word but a Hebrew word.  Did you know the Hebrew word for James is

JACOB?  You'll never guess what Psalms 147:19 says, "He showeth His WORD unto JACOB . . . "

2 Timothy 2:9 reads, "...the word of God is NOT BOUND."  Anybody can freely print, distribute, and reproduce the King James Bible without asking anybody for permission!  All other translations are "bound" by copyright laws.  New American Standard - copyright Lockman Foundation.  New International Version - copyright New York Int. Bible Society.  New King James Version - copy right Thomas Nelson Publishers.

Who with a brain, would seriously think the Word of Almighty God is 'BOUND' by copright laws?

  26. Well, why read Harry Potter considering it was translated into a gazillion languages?

If you can't enjoy a book, don't read it.
