  1. yes you are right it comes from the hungry thirty's and at one time your unemployment card that you needed to sign on in the seventies was better know as UB40 and that is were they got there name signing on for unemployment benefit the reggae group from Birmingham/England

  3. I think this abbreviation came from 1955 then many unemployed faced really hard problem of finding jobs through this department due to slow-down of economic activity in UK.
