Why do we say i love you?

i mean to anyone.. why do we say i love you? what do we mean?

it means that person completes you and you feel whole when you are with them. that is why we can say i love you to friends family and lovers. you tell them so that the other person knows how you feel and cos you dont want them to forget how much they mean to you. just to have good communication between them i guess.

well thats just what i think i love you means

i say it when i care about someone and don't want to ever let them go. but i guess of you're asking what being in love is i have no idea and don't think anyone reallyh knows themself to be honest.

Not really an answer, but do you agree that there are three types of love?

Firstly the general compassion that humans (usually) show towards each other, secondly when you're really close to someone and you say love them, and thirdly when you're so close to someone you'd consider marrying them.
