I have been self employed with own business for 30 years.

Best days when Conservative, M Thatcher was in power, low taxes,no european legislation for every corner i turned!

Strange how my late father always said- never vote labour son!-- i did not understand then- now i do!

And why, do all M P`s just seem to only worry how much they get and not worry about the country?

  1. If you wish to keep the politicians in a style that they are accustomed to and give very large amounts of our countries money to immigrants and lazy idle good for bugg-r all British people who think that we ow them a living . Also send large amounts of our cash to despots in Africa to stash away in the private bank accounts . Then vote labour , trouble is that the bank account is now empty so somebody has to pay so they can continue to squander our money , And I'm afraid that's you and me and anybody else in this country that tries to earn an honest living .

Trouble is that all there supporters the ones that i have mentioned almost out vote us , They are not going to give up there free and easy lifestyle easily. And if you think I'm cynical living in this madhouse under this lunatic government has made me so

  2. New Labour is Socialist, but they don't like to talk about it. They believe in the redistribution of wealth.

Socialism labours under the delusion that an infinite amount of intervention from the State equals an infinite amount of Good. On the contrary, too much Government is as bad as too little.

Despite our reputation as being "bad Europeans", we do actually implement evry single EU Directive - and then some. We have a Rolls Royce of a Government and Civil Service, which woks very well. The problem is that there is also a Ferrari of a European Parliament in Brussels. The combination of these two, is that the insurance premiums are sky-high! We need to decide between having Westminster and Brussels, as we do not need both.

  3. im in the usa but I understand yoru pain.  and to the first answerer who says you pay more to keep the system fair... how is it fair if he has to pay more?  as that is unfair.   what kind of mixed up logic is that... oh yea lib ( excuse me new labour ) logic.

I know Thatcher took alot of heat over the mining issue but I think she did alot of good that some dont appreciate, maybe dont understand.

  4. Who else here can remember Harold Wilson(him with the pipe and the dirty old mac)? Under his tenure the higher paid were robbed of 19/6 in the pound (for the benifit of those who are decimalised 97.5%) This current pack of rogues have learned to do it in a more subtle manner, but none the less it is done! I profoundly mistrust the way this country is being made dependant on imported goods and suspect we are being softened up for something we would otherwise find distasteful. It is time this country started to live within its means and got rid of the horrendous debt that this current government has got us into!

  5. We are paying more tax under labour.

  6. PW - Socialist labour...are you mad? redistribution of wealth? To who? Are you saying those who earn more are taxed more to pay for those on a lower income? Do you see lower income families getting a good deal?

The reason why we're taxed up to the eyeballs is because of government spending. I don't like Labour or Conservative but I have to say when the Cons were in power if money needed to come from somewhere they wouldn't just up the tax, they'd look to cut costs in other areas. Labour seem to just see a problem and think the only way to solve it is to throw money at it...our money. The Millenium stadium is a prime example.

The government choose to go to war...we pay for it. MP's choose to vote in an additional £250,000 2nd home allowance for themselves so they can buy mirrors and TV's each year for their 2nd homes...we pay for that. The NHS is currently in a mess but rather than drawing up a real plan like changing it's current practices, get rid of managerial pen pushers labour choose the easy route and throw more of our money at the black hole that it is. It just makes it look like they're doing something.

You get a job earn some money get taxed, you buy food, fuel, and clothes etc you get taxed. You sell any item, you get taxed. Buy a home, you get taxed, build a home you get taxed and the contractors who build it or sell it to you get taxed. You sell your business...over 40% of that goes to the government for what? You employ people, pay NI, contribute the the country's economy and they punish you for it. You die and you and your family get taxed.

The bottom line is the government are legalised gangsters like the mafia. They demand unfair amounts of cash, keep you afraid and obedient and will punish you if you step out of line. It's great isn't it this democratic country that we live in?!

  7. Probably because it is currently at its highest for 22 years.

Check the Guardian (http://www.guardian.co.uk/politics/2008/... - business taxes are at its highest for years. The Telegraph indicates that Family taxes are similarly increasing.

As for unfair, the health and wealth gaps between rich and poor are wider under labour than they were under the tories:

  8. You pay more to keep the system fair. Tories would just make it unfair. But you say your self employed? of course your for them.

  9. It is because you do pay more tax under Labour.  They are the tax and spend party after all.  What did you expect them to do ?

  10. It's not rocket science. If you take away all the rhetoric basically the Tories don't agree with public services and Labour do.

Fair enough, we are going through a dodgy period at the moment which I don't think you can dispute, originated in the U.S.

If you are happy to see three and a half million people unemployed, much reduced investment in the National Health Service and a totally means tested society, then vote Tory.

In the end, we get what we deserve.

  11. Make no mistake about it;Labour have always been a political Party that can spend taxpayers money quicker than you can say 'knife'!Why?They are a group of dreamers who pander to the fringe groups and protest organisations and will spend money as though there was no tomorrow.

That is  part of the problem we are experiencing today in the economic area! They just have not put money aside like other European Governments for use in case of a 'rainy day'!

What we are witnessing today is crisis management of the economy! There is no cohesive solution to the economic problems of the country but they are using solutions that would grace a Student Union Ball! But is that all they are good for?A bunch of political dreamers
