It is what is is, right? We can't control the price, but we seem to always get upset about it.

  1. It's human nature and in UK over 80% of the price you pay goes to that well known bunch of lying rouges we jokingly call a government

  2. Because people who only make "x" amount of dollars per week cant afford the increased gas prices.  The price of gas goes up and up while there wage at work stays the same or only increase by a few cents per week.

RESPONSE: They don't complain about bread or milk prices as much because they are not buying 20 loafs of bread or 20 gallons of milk once or twice a week.  If they had to buy that much of those items ill bet the complaints would come.  I should add I agree with you that complaining does not change a thing. But this is a debate that will go on and on until we don't use gasoline any more

  3. Thank god they don't run on Orange Juice or Gatorade!

  4. It's human nature.

  5. because in 5 years the price of gas has went up 2 dollares a gallon .... thats why!

  6. I would say that I complain about it because it's about $1.75 more than it should be.

It has gone far and above the normal inflation rate.

Oil trades at $100 a barrel, that's triple what it was 8 years ago.

There seems to be no solution, other than drive less, which I do.

  7. There are things we can do to keep gas prices in check, but we chose not to do them.  Instead of economy cars, we buy Hummers and Suburbans.  Instead of taking the bus or riding a bike, we drive that Hummer.

I see it every day.  People just casually waste energy.  Not turning things off.  Not seeming to care.

Look, its simple Supply and Demand.  Once we burn up petroleum, its gone, no more is being made (at least at a rate that will make any difference to our current civilization).  That makes it a limited resource.  Despite being limited, we put more and more vehicles on the road, develop previously non-industrial areas (like China), birth more and more babies who grow up and want cars too.  Its totally logical and predictable that Gas will become more and more pricey and yet people complain and moan and blame some outside source for their problem.

You want gas prices to go down?  OK, use less gas.  Walk more.  Ride the bus.  Trade in the gas-guzzler for a hybrid.

You actually have control of this, people.  You just choose not to use your conservation options.  At least not enough of you.

  8. I LIKE TO FILL UP WHEN MY TANK IS HALF EMPTY.

IT'S MENTALLY EASIER TO SPEN 30.00 AT THE GAS STATION THAN TO SPEND 60.00.

SURE IT'S THE SAME IN THE END, BUT EASIER.

PLUS IT MAY ANNOY THE GOVERNMENT WITH TWICE AS MANY RECEIPTS. ( I WRITE MY GAS OFF)

  9. It seems that the government and gas companies are playing tricks on us. In the last year we have seen barrel of gas go to 100 dollars and price per gallon go down and when barrel of gas was cheaper the price per gallon was more.

Also i think that in a way we as Americans are spoiled and not informed enough to realize that gas is far more expensive in other countries around the world. In Europe for example:

“There’s not a lot you can do, so you just pay it,” said Chris Parsons, a security systems installer from Hampshire, who spends much of his day on the road driving from job to job. “I’m paying 5 to 10 pounds more a week now than I was several months ago. It would have to get to £1.10 a liter ($7.52 a gallon) for it to really make a difference to me.”
