  1. A subconcious thought, perhaps in-built with us.

To respect in wonder some supernatural being that could impose its magic amidst the madding crowd by its presence alone.

.......  You're not referring to Angel Locsin, are you?

  2. I've never heard anyone say that. But I can imagine that if there's a large group of people and a sudden onset of silence occurs, then maybe people can imagine that there is an angel and it's presence causes people to be silent without knowing why.

    That's just my guess.

    Best wishes!

  3. I say those words too! Our class is always noisy every lunch break, then suddenly, short period of silence occurs! Coincidence? Looks like the devil inside each student's body got mesmerized by the angel!

  4. superstition..superstition is rampant in the Philippines..

just like they say Yankee go home and take me with you

  5. hahahha yeah totally..

    Filipinos are superstitious

  6. Old folks' tale and has been in practice ever since I can remember.  Maybe, in my grandmother's grandmother's time, it was used to revere the silence that came in the middle of a chatter.  Silence sometimes denotes reverence for something like in church during Mass when the priest says "Let us bow our heads in silence and pray for...."   And usually, the idea of an angel comes to mind because it represents holiness (in lieu of God) and has always represented God in Bible times.  No one has ever thought of saying "Shhh, silence...there's a devil in our midst."  I wonder why?

  7. I've never heard it or said it - until I asked my wife... She says Suuure. she knows all about it, but why, no idea.

  8. Yeah, it's like a saying already. Of course, when something passes by in the middle of a commotion, all will stop from what they are doing and keep quiet. And since no visible thing passes, we tend to to point something we think (well, most of us think) exists...angels.

We always say that in our class. Haha! Everyone, for a short period of time suddenyly keeps quiet. It's like something (angel) really passed by that made us stop for a while and keep quiet. :)
