Why do we think of Princess Diana as a saint?

Question

I'm really a big fan of Diana's contributions to the world,her selflessness,and gorgeous style,but she really behaved badly at times.She committed adultery for years,used the press when it was convenient,and messed around with married men.

She herself was married,and,understandably,didn't want Camilla around,so why would it be ok for her to be the other woman in somebody else's marriage?I've actually heard some people calling for her to be nominated for saint hood,which I ceratinly don't believe is necessary.

It's called "hyperbole" when people over-exaggerate someone's good qualities.I really liked Diana,but also understand that she was prone to certain human weaknesses like everyone else.But,in spite of all of her troubles,she did seek to help and comfort others.Just visit the website http://www.theworkcontinues.org to see the organizations that her estate still strives to support. And as for the sainthood,I don't see that coming. As a Catholic I can tell you that the path to the sainthood is a very hard and long-drawn out process,one requirement being that the nominee performs,after death,some kind of miracle that is proven to be true.Mother Therese is said to have performed a miracle after death,curing a woman who had cancer,but her path to sainthood is going to be along one! To be a saint doesn't require that the nominee be a perfect person,but a good one who helped others,fought discrimination(many saints are martyrs of the Church).

Honestly, I've never been a big Diana fan. Given her family position and history, I find it unlikely that she was not aware of what she was getting into. As she matured, it's possible she would have become the person she presented herself as. Sorry, not trying to be mean. But I do think she was more interested in what was best for Diana.

She would have been the first one to admit she wasn't a saint.  But, like Mother Theresa she gave a high profile voice to those who had none.  

She could have been a dilettante and instead she tried to help people.  The sad thing is that it got her killed.

Mother Theresa a Saint - yes definitely.  Lady Diana unfortunately not.  Yes she did a lot for poor people, sick people etc.  No-one can deny that, BUT she had money behind her back.  Which is something MT did not have.

Lady Diana struggled with the problems and ups and downs like most of us have or experienced at one stage in our lives, would it be depressions, cheating husband, cheating on her husband or whatever she struggled with, she was just a human being, like all of us, who unfortunately was very much in the public eye.
