Why do we think we're 'laid back'?

We as in Australians.

I don't get it, I don't think we are. How are we laid back? I think people just like to think their laid back but I don't think it's actually true. Furthermore, why would anyone want to think that they are laid back? Give me some examples of how we are laid back.

I think it is a very silly concept, we are no different from any other people from other western countries. Well, the city folk anyway.

  1. I like to think I'm laid back, I'm not motivated by greed and money and I like to enjoy life with out stress.

I don't find the term insulting.

It does not mean I'm lazy, it just means I know how to balance work and play.

I think you'll find that "laid back" does describe a large proportion of us.

I don't think you have any worries about being labelled "laid back".

  2. Laid Back means DOWN UNDER which is the term used to define the Continent

  3. actually i have never heard that before and i live in the u.s. but the crocodile hunter could have something to do with it.

  4. Stop worrying about what others think of you, relax and take time out to smell the roses and appreciate life.

  5. I totally agree - why the h**l do people think that? I walk the streets of Melbourne CBD every day and you want to see the number of speeding tickets given for drivers in a hurry and people pushing out of trains and on train station platforms because they're 'in a hurry' and people running around the office because they're in a hurry and the next door neighbour running out the door still tying his tie and eating his toast in the car because he's frantically 'in a hurry'.

Don't anyone tell me we're "laid back" because there's no truth or substance to it. Australia is always in a hurry every day.

  6. Some say we're just fancying up our laziness but the real laid-back approach is due to our work/life balance.

Our working hours are family friendly, we enjoy social occasions and sports, etc. Its more about the ease of our lives and how we manage to have fun.

All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. Us Aussies don't want to be dull, we live life to the fullest.

  7. well, you are definitely NOT laid back...lol
