Why do we transform electricity?

I am doing a piece of work and i need to know why we transform electricity. HELP PLEASE!!!

    This is done with a transformer, provided that the source is Alternating Current (AC).

  3. to send the electricity to large distances and to minimise wastage of electricity in the form of heat

  4. It's done to send electricity long distantances.

    You can't send DC current very far, so Tesla suggested that AC would be much better for sending it long distance. It's stepped up to send and then stepped back down to distribute in your home.
