Question:

Why do we try so hard with the Palestinians and Jews?

The fighting between the Jews and the Palestinians is Biblical. Yet, every U.S. president wants to get involved in the politics of these two groups. Why is the United States so interested in this outcome? Today Obama was there....surely we have enough domestic problems of our own to deal with. Are we hoping to put the White House in Jerusalem? I really don't understand. Any intelligent insight is welcome.

  1. America has historical ties, if you look deeply enough, to ancient middle eastern history.  Let the play continue on.  Dismissing the middle east as irrelevant makes as much sense as getting rid of, say, the colours red and green.

  2. When Israel goes, so goes the rest of the world.

  3. Amrican govt involvement in the middle east has geo political reasons behind it. It's not out of altruism! And the 'answers' I've read in here are disgraceful. Saying the Palestinians don't want peace is downright ignorant, and bordering on bigotry. Calling it biblical too is silly since it reduces the real causes of the wars to some mythical past.

  4. Simple answer: The President is scared of Jewish voters in the USA.

  5. America has no real interest in solving the problem there, what do they care? the only reason they go is for photo opportunities and god knows what other ulterior motives

  6. No, the fighting between Jews and Palestinians.  The Palestinian Arabs are not related to the Philistines of old, though they have expropriated the name.

In the early 20th Century there was a huge ingress of Arabs into the area, which had been very sparsely populated, from the Arabian Peninsula.  Then Britain was given the mandate to govern the area called the Holy Land and, ultimately, divide it into Jewish and Arab sections.  This had been in the works long before the Holocaust of WWII.

  7. Because we make money and we want an ally in the middle east.

The US has been selling arms to the Israelis and Palestinians for years and just watches them use them while they fight. Ron Paul was the only presidential nominee this year who publicly voiced the need for an end to supplying both sides because it only prolongs the fight.

Israel also provides a perfect place for the US to launch operations out of against nations in the area deemed "hostile", such as Syria, Iran, Lebanon, etc.

Personally I think the fighting is stupid.....have you seen most of the land in Israel? You could not grow a piece of corn in most of the areas....everyone b*****s about getting their land back, but so what if you did? Then what? It is all desert or rocky mountain sides....horray! You lose. Why do you think 90% of the Israeli population lives in the cities? The land simply isnt anything valuable

  8. who knows! the Palestinians do not want peace. Our friends and ally the Israeli's do though.so maybe that's why!

  9. I wondered the same thing.  Why does the US care so much about Israel?  Have a look at the link below.  It suggests that the extraordinarily high level of Christianity in the US is directly related to their desire that the Jewish people succeed in the Holy Land.
