  1. Sin. The consequences, all types of death, I think includes using less than all of our brain and less than all of our genetic material.

  2. we use a small percentage of our brain because the brain uses large amounts of energy as it is, if all of the brain is active the energy required by the brain would be to great and we could not support the required demand.

  3. i don't know you tell me. you could have saved 5 points if you had looked up your question on the search for question. xP but i think its because we don't put effort in learning into our fullest.

  4. actually it is a misconception that we only use 10 percent of our brain, we use all of it, theres an article by a neurologist that discusses this subject, links in my source.

  5. It has to do with the amount of blood supply to the brain.  If we were able to increase the blood supply, we could do much more.  The downside is, if we do increase the supply, it would also kill us.  I guess it all boils down to evolution.

  6. cause then we wouldnt have yahoo answers if used 100% wed probably find out all the answers our selves easily

  7. If you think you never use a large part of your brain, then it's a self-fulfilling prophesy, and you can go back to watching network television. You use different parts of your brain for different tasks, and with some degree of efficiency. There are no parts that are just sitting there without a purpose. Every part gets its work but the situations in which you need it all at once just don't come up.

  8. only parts of your brain are active at any one type. there are areas of your brain dedicated to speech, smell, sound, understanding words, another for understanding behavior, another for making rational decisions, then you have two whole strips of brain from end to end dedicated to motor function, and to sensation.... tell me when in your life have you experienced all of the above at one single time? that means that you also had to make sense of ALL of the floods of information that can potentially come into your brain... thats impossible, it cant happen.  there are circuits in your brain that must function without much interference from many other circuits, that is why your brain must function in a controlled manner. if everything fired at once and uncontrollably, that is called a seizure. so trust me you dont want your brain functioning at 100%. we do have tons of untapped potential, though, but i think that has to do less with the biochemical workings of the brain and more with your beliefs and motivation. a lot of the time people are giving 10% of their full potential, when giving a little more, could result in a world of difference, but like i said that has to do more with youre motivation.

  9. i hate to brake this to you but this is a myth.  we use 100% of our brains, look into it.  it may continue to be pushed forward by paranormal flakes and the like as well as ignorant tv personalities. but it is a complete fallacy.  if you know anyone in neuroscience or even when you next visit your doctor ask him to explain it to you, different parts for different jobs
