Why do we use iodine solution when we investigate weather plants need carbon dioxide for photosynthesis?

  1. Production of starch is one way of detecting that photosynthesis ( CO2 (!!!) + water (+ chlorophyll + energy ) > carbohydrates + oxygen ) has occurred and iodine solution is an easy way to detect starch; it  reacts uniquely with starch to form a blue-black or purple color.
