A friend is doing a task on the disadvantages, advantages and limitations of radio as a tool for education. I have searched googles, but to no avail. I cannot find a suitable answer.

  1. These are just my observations, I was unable to find a Website either:

    ADVANTAGES

    1) Can cover a relatively wide area cost-effectively

    2) Most homes have at least 1 radio, more so than TV or shortwave radio

    3) Can air a lecture numerous times without paying teacher each time

    DISADVANTAGES

    1) Smaller coverage area than TV

    2) No opportunities for feedback (students can't "question" the teacher if they don't understand)

    LIMITATIONS

    1) Difficult to teach concepts requiring visuals

It would probably also be wise to talk with an executive at your local NPR radio and television station about advantages of each and you could also ask why radio is "better than" TV and vice versa.
