A movie is a story, once you know the plot it's good to go.  Music is an expression, one that you can relate to and apply to life, sing to it and memorize.

I watch movies and follow them thoroughly...

I listen to music over and over because I don't always pay close attention or the music fits my certain mood and its short and too the point. some movies are drawn out and bore me.

Music is good anytime for me in the car, in the background while doing something else....

Because with CD's you can move around and do other things.  Ever try listening to a Movie's Soundtrack CD?  Try "Pulp Fiction."

You don't have to be staring at a CD as it is playing. With a CD you can be driving,cooking, eating, playing, ect. With a DVD, watching it is about the only thing you can do while it is playing.

I watch movies more than once, but I do listen to my cd's more than I watch movies. One reason is because I spend lots of time in my car and I can't watch tv while driving and I LOVE to SING.

But thats besides the point. To answer your question, I think its because movies are stories. And for a lot of genres, once you know the twists or the adventure or the thrill and especially th climax, you might not want to watch it again. Its predictable.

Songs are not stories. They're fragments of entertainment, catchy beats, musical poetry even.
