  1. I believe it is an old battle cry...it is always preceded by that horn riff...if you ever watch any old (pre-1960) cartoons & Western movies where there are cavalry battles, you are likely to hear it there, also.

  5. Funny, I was at Shea yesterday and that chant went around and I asked myself that very same thing.  I came up with nothing.  You could make a case as a football thing or some other sport where several players are all in motion at the same time, but not baseball.

    It is a traditional thing though, going back decades.
