  1. Because it makes us think that under Islam, a woman is treated like a possession, like  a piece of furniture to be mounted at her master's every whim.

It's demeaning. And as for all this rubbish about how Muslim men's passions might be aroused,  so women need to be covered up.   It's nonsense.

that's my opinion. - YOU asked for it.

  2. I don't  but.....

The answer is blowin' in the wind.

  3. I do not find it offensive if a woman chooses to wear it due to her faith. What I find offensive are men that force women into wearing them against their will. What I also find offensive are men that will brutalize women verbally, psychologically, publicly and most offensive of all...PHYSICALLY in the name of God for not wearing it.

I prefer my women uncovered. I find it an offense to cover up a beautiful woman. However, everyone is free to practice their own faith.....I just don't want it imposed on me.

I fear greatly for Western Europe.

  4. When in our country they live by our rules. When we are in there country we have to cover our hair.Personally I do not care what they wear has they look like burks.lol

  5. Wearing the burka makes women non people.  It is also intimidating and alienating.  It is demeaning and degrading and it emphasises their status of being a possession and not a person.

The burka is not something that sits easily in the 21st century in the western world.

  6. We westerners as you put it like to have our own way of doing things and I lived in middle east for 3 years- saudi.

Most woman wore burckas there and It didnt bother me. I could understand cause the arabs would harrass the woman.

It may not be fair for woman rights and in the moden world as long its by choice and not by the family.

I have a question for you?

Why is some much hatred of the west and our ways- in yet so many benefit seeking christan haters choose to come here or claim asylum. Just look at the uk news. Plotting to blow up airlines and make martardon videos, then getting caught and denying it. All in the name of allah.

  7. Could it be that if they don't they will be made to act like slaves for 24 hours per day instead of the usual 23 hours per day ?

  8. Says a man.  Why would any woman want to wear it?  Unless they're brainwashed.

I'm a woman and there's no way I would want to wear one.  But then, I have the freedom to choose.

  9. I don't find it offencive I find it strange, I was brought up in an area where there were and are lots of Asians and can't understand why all of a sudden in the past few years lots seem to be wearing it. I don't ever remember any ladies wearing it years ago. Has there been a change in the religion that now says it should be worn, very strange indeed.

  10. I thought that Pakistani women would be more likely to wear the shalwar kameez, which I have always thought more practical for getting on and off of buses etc. than the burka.  However I don't have a problem with either.

  11. It discourages women from shaving their beards.

  12. We don't find it offensive. We find it demeaning and oppresive. We know that the women of Islam are treated as second class citizens, constantly under the thumbs of their male counterparts. We know, for example that women must worship in the back rooms of your mosques, and are not allowed to worship with the men. And forgive me if I do not believe your claim that Pakistani women actually like to wear

the burqua (برقع) as you are a man. Only when I see a poll taken by an independent non-Muslim entitity of a majority of Pakistani women, stating that conclusion will I believe it.

  13. I could not care less if they chose to wear Santa suits. It's up to them.If they don't like it then it's their problem to fix not the west's to interfere in.

  14. Westerners don't hate the burcka. They hate women being FORCED to wear the burcka... Big differernce.

  15. well i do find it offensive, i believe in tolerance (albeit with limits, I am not prepared to tolerate what i find intolerable) but i believe that it is offensive to western culture, why?

so Pakistani women like to wear the burqa? how about in afghanistan, yes thats the afghanistan where once they got rid of teh dreadful taliban and their religious police, women CHOSE (for the first time in years) to get rid of the burqa, along with listening to music and wearing make up and yes, having their own version of pop idol (but you got to take the bad with the good).

remember this is the afghanistan wher the religious police would beat a woman for not wearing her burqa - so dont tell me that a woman chooses to wear a tent, if i was threatened with a beating for not wearing a tent -  guess what, I would 'choose' to wear a tent as well.

In the west we beleive that women have rights, and are equal to men, something that the islamic world clearly and blatantly does not - a womans legal view is worth half of a mans for example

what kind of screwed up logic places the blame on a woman for the sexual urges of men???

what a load of c**p, that is why i find it offensive

and to add, their is no religious compulsion to act like this, it is just a statement of seperatism, to say I am a muslim, i dont want to integrate with you infidels, which is pretty offensive when you are in another culture

why cant you compromise, why have we got to bend around you all the time - i dont dislike muslims at all, but the screwed up mentality of some poeple who seem to think their 'rights' are paramount and s***w everyone else .... when will you realise that one persons 'rights' usually infringes on someone elses

the french have the right idea - religion is something taht should be practised behind closed doors.

    rant over.

  16. I don't have a problem with it and if their women are fine with it it's their business. If they don't like it then it's still their business. The west should butt out.

  17. No you force women to wear these.   Can't muslim men simply keep their eyes to themselves.

  18. The trouble is the men seem to like wearing them too - mainly as disguises

  19. women fought and died and are still fighting for rights and these women are everything that these women have fought against for centuries. me as a male find it a little far out along with arranged marriages the honour killings the oppression and the woman and man only signs, you are really not helping the west coming to terms with your aged religious beliefs, there has to be a little give and take just seems to be a lot of take at the moment.

  20. Many have no objection whatsoever.

The main 'barrier' is the hijab, which I think is optional.

It could be any person of either s*x in there. Disconcerting not to see people's facial expressions too.

  21. I don't find the burka offensive, if they want to wear them..so be it

  22. I don't find it offensive, I find it intimidating and quite frankly, I dread bumping into to anyone in a burcka at a train station for obvious reasons. Also, I don't see it as fair that pakistani/muslim women can where this wherever they like, whilst dictating what English/christian people can where, so as not to offend THEM in OUR country.I'm sure you can understand that?

  23. It's the fact that it conceals your identity.  Nobody should be ashamed of who they are, or wish to conceal it from others.  We are naturally suspicious of those who will not reveal their identity.  If I sit next to you on the bus, I cannot smile or talk to you, it makes the world an unfriendly place.

While I'm here, can I ask why so many of the burcka wearing women in my neighbourhood wear men's shoes ?  Obviously, I've no objection to this, they can wear what shoes they want, but I just wonder why ?

  24. I don't find it offensive, it's just totally different and foreign from what I would wear.  Pakastani women probably feel that a skirt and jacket combination or a pair of jeans and a tee shirt is equally foreign.  It's just culture.

  25. But they are not living in Pakistan nor are their husbands.

They claim they are British when claiming benefits and looking to get their cousins into the country but dress like they are in the villages far from modern day civilisation.

They wear them to show they are not British and don't want to be except when it comes to claiming benefits.

  26. pakistani women probably like to avoid a good flogging from the local religious nutcase

  27. personally I don't find it offensive. What is offensive is the assumption all westerners are against cultural dress codes. A little tolerance from all would be nice, let christians wear the cross etc and it'll be fine. The problem is when it conflicts with a job, then that causes a problem. All down to understanding one another.

  28. I'm American, and it doesn't offend me.

The whole 'offended' thing you speak of is that our American media has used this as a propaganda tool to get the west to support womens rights in Islamic nations.

I wish the western nations wouldn't meddle in other countries affairs. We have our own problems to work on.
