Why do white people look down at smart black people?

I happen to be what you would call a black geek. I avoid fighting, I don't do bad things, etc. White people would ALWAYS take this to mean I was a punk. Whenever they see normal black guys they always act like they're criminals but when they black people avoid that steroetype they take advantage of us.

Its like a rat and a squirrel! Both are rodents that can be classified as vermins but the squirrel's bushy tail makes it look sweet and thus it is not vilified like the rat (which by the way is cleaner and more intelligent than the squirrel)

I agree with half the commentators above - avoid the insecure individuals that look down on you and do what you do well. Chances are they look down on their own kind who they deem not to be as good as they are for other reasons
