Why do white people turn orange when they go tanning instead of a real tan brown color?

Why do white people turn orange when they go tanning instead of a real tan brown color?

They either spend to much time in the tanning bed or are using spray on / lotion s**t.

I go to tanning bed only for 15 min. I turn red and the next day I have a light tan, no different than spending a day at the beach..

I refuse to join the oompa loompas.
