Question:

Why do women complain about the "Glass Ceiling" so much ?

If there is a wage difference it could possibly be explained by women choosing to leave and re-enter the work force because of children.

What about the "Glass Coffin"? What is this you ask? It is the term I use to describe the fact that 95% of workplace fatalities are suffered by men in the U.S. Should there be feminist attorneys that try to even this out too? Do we need more women on the deck of king crab boats and doing deep sea welding just to make things "fair" and less sexist? Do we need more gender diversity in dangerous jobs. Or do women just want to take the easy way out and complain about money?

  1. Money is the most important thing if you need to pay rent and feed your family.   And there have been wage differences between my pay and that of men with equal or less experience all of my working life - and I didn't have kids until I was in my 30s. So throughout my 20s I worked and got  paid less. That meant I couldn't afford a car or a decent place on my own (I had to share with roommates). Not a fun life.

If women are physically strong enough to do the hard jobs like working on crab boats, let them. The job should go to the qualified regardless of gender.

  2. The glass ceiling doesn't exist.

Many studies have been carried out that show women are simply far less aggressive in pursuing pay raises and promotions. Women just don't argue as much about pay. An employer will generally pay every employee as little as they can get away with, women generally settle for less.

It definitely sucks that we have to fight for fair pay but that never the less is the way things are.

The very dangerous jobs you mention are generally extremely physically demanding. Women can't do those jobs by reason of biology. Men have and always been more expendable is any society but there are biological and evolutionary reasons for that too.

  3. how about a wage difference for a woman who hasnt left and re-entered the workplace then?

By insisting on gender diversity, you are encouraging sexism. And while I understand the point you are making (expressing frustration about the feminist victim mentality), you're making it in a ridiculous way.

  4. Customers, clients, employers and shareholders only care about productivity and bottom line. If you're not producing, you will not advance... Call it what you will. Men work more, work harder, and are more likely to travel for their company. A recent study by the American Association of University Women suggested that the wage gap has a lot to do with personal life choices. Wage gap is a myth.

  5. I don't really give a c**p about Glass ceilings. In my experience the only way that would go away is if you act rather then complain. The only way you will get the things you want is if you fight and claw your way to the top. That's what I do and it's best to stay out of my way if I want something. Life to me is a competition so I don't allow ANYONE stand in my way.

What doesn't kill you makes you stronger. I learn that from experience. It's either kill or be killed. All my life I had to fight for myself.

You either can be my friend or enemy. If you my enemy I won't make things easy for you.

  6. Haha, yikes, prepare to be flamed, but I'll admit, that's a pretty comical response to that percentage.

It's a pretty touchy subject, so I'm just gonna walk away and watch this conversation from afar.

    Good luck :D

  7. Like I said before. When men don't like something, they change it or FIX it. When women don't like something, they WHINE and COMPLAIN.

That's why men run the world and that's why men make more money.

Men TAKE what they want. Women wait for handouts.

This is not my opinion...its the TRUTH.

  8. because it stinks

  9. So in other words, if men decide to voluntarily take jobs with a high likelihood of death or dismemberment, in order to be fair.......women should also be just as stupid?

As far as the nonsense about children........raising children is not a voluntary occupation.........someone has the raise the children for the sake of society.........if someone is not moaning about women deciding to opt for daycare, they are moaning about it being our own fault for the glass ceiling.  It's the proverbial "damned if you do/damned if you don't" for women........which is then followed up with another no brainer like "why are women so angry?"

Why are you not asking an intelligent question like:  why aren't men deciding to put their careers on hold and raise THEIR children with the same regularity as women and "why aren't men being questionned about the decision to put THEIR children into daycare?
