my husband was 19 when he married me and i was 20. not all women marry older men. me and my husband work as a team i dont need him to provide for us. we work together.

i am six months older, my mum is 6 months older than my dad (been together 40 years) and my husbands grandma was 6 months older than his grandad and they were together nearly 60 years untilhe died.

the woman being 6 months older appears to be a lucky formula within our family for long term marriage!

I agree with Katy not all women do this.  I married a man one year younger then me and he did really make more money then me.  Those were not my requirements.  I want love and respect.  I wanted a guy who knew what the Breakfast Club was. Why some women do it is because they are gold diggers, they have a father complex or maybe they are just attracted to old rich men.  Its not my issue so I really don't know.

For financial security and someone to provide for them.  They date older because sometimes they are looking for that father figure.  Older men are sometimes more mature and intellectual.  The older men are not on our level.  The woman can experience more things.

Because a man that is 17 looks way too young for a 18 girl year woman.

Men are to grow more than women, so they stop growing and maturing at an older age, so to equal the ages they seek someone younger.

Women can get the feeling of dating kids if the man is too young, so that's how they equal the age.

Also, at the age of 45 most men are still kinda young, maybe some white hair here and there and some small wrinkles, but good.

While women are already in menopause and have more wrinkles, they look older because they simply grow faster.

And from the other side, some women seek a man who can protect them and can work.

It's not pathetic, it's a style of life.

This is still generalizing :P, no barriers for love, many people i know are younger then their wifes and im younger than my gf :P

This does seem like a standard doesn't it.  I think women generally want to settle down before men.  Thus, going for older men who are also ready to settle down.  Many people also look for someone with similar education levels and women tend to choose fields which are flexible and sometime have part time jobs to care for present or future children.  Also since the man is older he also has more experience and earns more.

Ok this is a known fact tested by scientist.

Scientist concluded in a survey and test on several many women the reason that women date older more successful men are because they feel "safer" they can rest with the knowledge that if needed they will be taking care of. This makes science because in the wild the women would look for mates who had home and who were strong so in tight spots they would survive.
