  1. Most screams from women are for show, not out of fear. Why, I don't know. I agree that it's annoying. But then so is men shouting all the time.

  2. Where are these women seeing men scream? Not in real life.

The only place you see men scream like women is on idiotic feminized TV shows where they try to pretend that men are just like women. It's pathetic.

Take a garden hose after a group of small girls, spray water on them and they will all scream as they run away. Try it with a group of small boys, and I can guarantee they won't scream like the girls.

  3. shouting is manly

and most girls when they scream are not actually scaredd

there just doing it for attention

  4. Not all women scream, I actually lash out at whatever has just starled me. The reason why most women scream though is becasue they have been operantly conditioned (trained by previouse consequences to previouse actions) that this is the correct way to react to be startled. This starts early on from being a young girl, girl startled and screams people come and help, so it reinfirced into girls if they scream help arrives. Men dont scream becasue when there little and starlted people come but tell boy of such as "Dont be a baby" so boy is punished for screaming so boy learns that that is an inapproprate response. That effectivly how it goes for the majority of people

  5. It's an animal instinct for protection. When I scream I pull out my mace or little gun (My dad gave me one), if they are not with me I kick. I've heard men scream like little girls. Very funny.

  6. I only scream if the creepy thing startled me, kinda like little Miss Muffet.

  7. I read every answer, Cid said it best, why make it complicated?

In a moment of danger women react passively and submissively and that might be nature at work!!

    No more no less......

  8. It's just a fact of anatomy. Most women have higher voices than most men, so the same vocalization sounds different between the two.

(Me, I gasp or sort of yelp if something really scares me)

  9. What's the difference?

  10. Because unlike men, who react to danger with a shout of courage and strength, women react with a scream of fear and weakness. Its a reaction built into them from years of not having accountability or taking care of themselves, but rather depending on men.

  11. That's one of the differences between men and women. Why? Because we evolved that way (sexual dimorphism).

You may as well ask why men are taller than women (on average). Same answer.

  12. i know men who scream, have you met all women in the whole entire world? and men? i think not.

  13. It's a natural reaction to such things

    No reason really

  14. I dunno. I never scream though. I just get in this defensive body posture either with my hands up or I curl in a ball like an armadillo when I'm really scared. First answer, that was just CREEPY.

  15. Women should be mens' slaves

  16. All humans scream in RESPONSE to feelings of surprise, pain, fear and happiness.  And, all humans shout to COMMUNICATE dominance and to make others fearful and feel intimidated.  Men tend to shout more than do women due to acculturations related to battle intimidation behaviors and master / slave intimidation roles to "drive" others into obedience, such as drill instructors, slave drivers, animal handlers and football players.

Also, all humans shout in anger, a behavior that women have not historically been allowed to do in most cultures with "gender" roles requiring that women speak softly, keep their mouths shut, not laugh too loudly, etc. in order to reduce them, force them to be less intimidating and threatening in male-dominant cultures.  And, females have better acculturated emotional anger management than do men and so shout less often in that regard.

  17. It makes sense if you look at the human race in terms of animal instincts only.  If there was a predator approaching the best defense is for all of the strongest humans to band together.  A loud woman's scream can be heard over quite a good distance.  It would let the men know that she (And possibly her child) is/are in danger.  Humans are social animals, and would not leave one of their own, especially a child, behind.  Most prey animals have a scream of sorts.  The first one to come to mind is that of the rabbit.  A rabbit being pursued by a fox makes a horrible high pitched squealing scream that alerts other rabbits in the area so they don't fall prey as well.

No matter how advanced our civilizations have become we are still very much under the influence of our original animal instincts.

  18. Men do it too! I've seen a man scream when frightened (like a little *****). It's just an automatic reaction that is a result of fear (for both sexes)

  19. Our voices are in general higher, and we do yell, scream, screech and sometimes in real life, not the movies that you have seen this portrayed with regularity, get so scared we make no sound at all!

Your point is that men don't scream...that vocal chords make a yell more acceptable than a scream.

OK when something really scary is coming for me, I hope whoever sees it first is not a sexist jerk who worries about their macho image and screams at the top of his/her lungs!

  20. its called an instant reaction lool men are suppose to be the opposites o women ... men shout ... women .... scream lool

  21. Because thats how we are. Would you rather men screamed and girls shouted?
