Why do women hinge such large percentage of their self-esteem on social perception of their physical looks..?

[or consistently argue against "such high standards for beauty" perpetuated by media] -If they truly believe that looks & sexuality do not afford women the majority of their value?

Why would so many women's self-esteem suffer and crack (even according to themselves) based simply on judgment of their looks-- if that argument is not true?

  1. Most women don't.

    I'm tired of some women constantly complaining about the media's influence. If you're fat and don't want to look at hordes of skinny girls for chrissake sake don't keep buying all those stupid girlie magazines.


  2. I think most women have moved past this point, or do as they mature.
