Like if a woman accomplishes something in one of those careers, they make such a big deal out of it "Yay! I did something good. I'm a woman. I deseve attention!"

  1. Because women know that their presence in any societal leadership role is a joke.

Only men are required to register for The Draft. Until women are too, *any* leadership role they obtain is laughable.

  2. Because they don't know that by exploiting their accomplishments in that way it actually makes women seem inferior. Like no one could ever expect a woman to do what they just did. My coaches always told me in order to earn respect,"Act like you've been there before."

My favorite auto racing driver is Danica Patrick. She is a true race car driver. I have never, ever heard her make any big deal about her being an accomplished "woman driver."  It's always the press that brings all that c**p up. When the nitwit media ask her,"How does it feel to be a woman winning the race?" She answers,"I'm a professional race car driver; I'm expected to win."

You see, women can do anything, but the only way all of us will come to expect it is by just doing it. If it looks so much harder for a woman to accomplish the same feat as a man then, naturally, people will believe that men are better at it. So women athletes: be like Danica and do a favor for your sisters- Act like you've been there before.

  3. It's a matter of breaking a negative or false stereotype. For example, the only time I ever made such a big deal of something while in the military was after an advancement test. And the only reason I did, was because certain men (the only ones I boasted to after wards) were constantly putting me down because I didn't act like the other females all flaky just looking to get laid. Well when the tests came back and I scored higher than the "smartest" guy, I shoved it in his face that I could do just as well. But for the record, another male whom no one thought was very smart did better than that guy too (but I got the highest score)!! So we both kind of shoved it down his throat to shut him up!!

  4. You are right, some women do that. But, I was a woman who was pursuing a career in Law enforcement at one point in my life. I have a degree in criminal justice and wanted to be an investigator. The thought that I was "invading" a man dominated occupation never even occurred to me until I was in school with a couple other women who were always trying to compete with the men. I was genuinely interested in this Field and thought I would do a really good job at it. Alot of women who pursue a male dominated career are fiercely competitive and very "manly" them selves. They have some sort of score to settle with men and they are going to do it by "invading" their territory. I am not saying that these sort of careers are for men only, its just a male dominated Field. So that is why they act that way. p.s. I never went into law enforcement, instead I decided to stay home and raise my children.

  5. "Having something to prove" can be the motivational difference it takes to succeed!  Since women in general are at a natural disadvantage in these areas it takes more determination to overcome and achieve!  I wouldn't knock them for that.  There are plenty of egotistical men too you know!

  6. mainly because their arrogant and full of pride!  just like men!  with the exception, that men don't go around boasting that i can have a baby or cook better than women!  of course not!   we know our place!  they should too!  what is their place?  to support their men and be submissive to them!  however, men shouldn't lord it over them as most do. as far as your question? beats the heck out of me!

  7. I will answer this question with a simple quote which says it all:

Because I am a woman, I must make unusual efforts to succeed. If I fail, no one will say, "She doesn't have what it takes." They will say, "Women don't have what it takes."

    -Clare Boothe Luce

When's the last time a man failed and someone said, Men don't have what it takes?

They act like they have something to prove because they do. Anything they do wrong will be held in contempt of their entire gender.

  8. anyone in law enforcement or the military has a right to brag a little. these jobs require of their members the most rigid of conduct.

as for the something to prove... if you were a female in the armed forces you'd understand. this is in no way a bad thing. it's about working harder, running faster, keeping cooler because we have to, in order to play in the boy's club.

  9. Because everyone around expects (consciously or not) much less of her than they would expect of a man in the same profession. If everyone you knew had a very low expectation for your performance, you don't think you have grow to have a little tiny chip on your shoulder and a desire to prove yourself?
