.. if they are truly after gender equality? You know: nurse, hostess, flight attendant hospice worker, server, daycare worker -----> you know, basically all jobs that could be done equally as well by either s*x. Why do women continue to readily accept and seek out these positions (knowing the gender bias).... yet then play on like they are truly consumed with the quest for equality?

  1. The question answers itself.  It's a conundrum.  If more women didn't go after the jobs, they would cease to be predominantly female occupations.  So, what's your point?

  2. Are you suggesting that women should abandon genuine desire for traditionally "female" jobs in the name of equality? Sorry, hon, you must have not gotten the memo about how we were all about individual choice. We'll let it slide as long as you get the new covers on your TPS reports by the end of the week.

  3. honestly I think you're looking at this backwards. I think it's more likely that women are attracted to certain jobs, that certain jobs just tend to be predominantly female.

has nothing to do with wanting equality. Women are just good at certain things, men at others. Doesn't mean anything, it just happens. Don't read more into it than it is.

  4. Here also is the reason for the wage gap. Women tend to choose jobs/careers that offer flexibility. Something all those job's offer.

Don't even bother asking about discrimination in employment because feminism is a female supremacy movement and there happy with the current setup.

  5. Yes you are right there are a lot of women that are in the work fields that you mentioned but there are also a lot of women Doctors, Judges, lawyers, and chemical engineers, etc..

I do know of men that are in the nursing, hospice and the other fields that you mentioned.

Isn't it great that both men and women can work at the jobs they like to work at.

  6. "Last time I checked there were male nurses, hosts, flight attendants, hospice workers, servers, and daycare workers."

Working alongside female doctors, pilots, engineers and world leaders, etc.

Sheesh someone has his head in the sand.

***Trent said: "These jobs are largely "reserved" for women. We all know that. Let's get serious for once in here."

What are you talking about Trent?  "Reserved"?  60%of the new doctors being graduated out of medical schools are female.  Are you saying these are "reserved" positons???

I cant help it if you dont like the answers you get here.

***LOL at Trent.  Men dont go into jobs like those because they are LOW PAYING and not considered "manly" or very ego-worthy for men.  duh

Speaking of doing something positive for society:  WHY ARENT MORE MEN BECOMING TEACHERS???  Do you think the big bag feminist machine is against male teachers? Answer that one, Trent.

  7. Because I LOVE teaching, have quite a bit of vacation time for which I can get a part time job or will be able to spend with my kids in the future.

That's why I do it.  I am not sure why others do.

I know what I got into.  I didn't expect to be starting out at $45,000.

  8. for the same reason guys continue to accept jobs that are predominantly male - the difference now is choice.  If he wants to be a nurse, he can without the stigma.  If she wants to be a stevedore, she can, also sans stigma.

CHOICE it's still all about CHOICE something that didn't exist during the good old days of strictly enforced gender roles.

  9. Actually in the medical field there are quite a few male nurses. They are also more respected and taken more seriously in some places. Not all places however. I do think you are right however. Women need to take on different jobs as well. Working on an oil rig pays good money. I do have a freind in Salt lake city who is a heavy equipment opporator. She says it is a women haters society there. I guess she has a real hard time of it.

  10. Last time I checked there were male nurses, hosts, flight attendants, hospice workers, servers, and daycare workers.

  11. well most of the jobs u mention are jobs where you have to be nice to people and smile and when i go out to eat id Rather have a girl serve me than some guy

  12. Because most people have a passion and a career path that drives them.  I would certainly never give up teaching because there are so many female teachers.  My choosing to do something else simply because it's not a traditionally "female" profession is not going to help achieve equal treatment.
