  1. Well, writer e. e. cummings never capitalized his name either. I'm sure the reason they all do it is to make a political or personal statement.

  2. I don't know, but the famous male poet e.e. cummings did the same thing

  3. Because capitalizing certain letters unfairly privileges those letters at the expense of other letters, thus perpetuating the hierarchal and oppressive nature of written language that the entire patriarchy is built upon.

I do like k.d. lang's singing quite a lot, though.

  4. maybe they dont think its very important in the grand scheme of things , or maybe they enjoy breaking the rules hah

  5. Perhaps hooks and lang are postmodernists who consider proper grammar to be beneath them.  On the other hand, it may reveal a streak of self-revulsion.

As for e.e. cummings, I had to read some of his poetry in school.  I'm not a fan.

  6. bell hooks refuses to capitalize her name because it signifies that what is most important in her works is the "substance of books, not who I am."

    Peace

  7. What a stupid question.

** Hey big juggs, nice feminist name**
