Why do women on welfare keep having children?

I think it is very irresponsible to give birth to children you can't afford to care for. Its one thing if you have kids and unfortunate life events cause you to become reliant on goverment support, its another thing to have children while already recieving help. I don't think having children should be a right. It should be a reward for fit people. You may get mad at me for saying this but drug addicts, people living of the goverment and the severly mentally ill should be court ordered to be on birth cotrol or go to jail. Do you Agree/Disagree? Tell me about it,

  1. A lot of the time, it's because they can't survive on what they're getting and the system is set up to a ring of failure. For instance, here in Arizona, you can't get cash assistance unless you have a minor or dependant child 19 or under. Therefore, if this person can't work enough to support themself for some reason, they'll get pregnant in order to make ends meet temporarily.

It sucks and it's wrong, but that's how the system is set up.

  2. people in the USA have a right to have children no matter what their economic status. we dont live in china.

  3. LOL

You're right people on welfare shouldn't make more babies on welfare.

HOWEVER,  birth control doesn't always work and NO contraceptives are 100% effective.  Condoms, birth control pills, spermacide, etc: none work 100%.  Then also, condoms do break and plan B doesn't always work.  You can't force someone to get an abortion and damage their body.  And you cant force people to even be on birth control.  Some religions do not believe in using birth control, so forcing them to do so would be a violation of freedom of religion.

  4. Yes I totaly agree!.  And what about the hard working famlies that are struggling with the way the economy is now.  Like for instance my husband and I, he is an electrician and work has slowed way way down in the construction business, I am an admin for a masonry company.  We are about to have a child and because we both work we can't get any help!  So maybe we should just stop trying???  Loose our house, our cars etc.... (no way)  I hear yah sister!

  5. I agree with you on most of it .If it were possible to penalize the present recipients of "welfare" for having  more children

would probably help.I've heard there are generations of family's on welfare of some kind. But the big question is who would do the job of following up on it.Most welfare caseworkers "help"their clients work out a way to get the money .I have friends who are caseworkers, and they tell me the stories about how they do this.I know there are times when people honestly need the help, but I also know some people are just getting what (everything) the government will give to them, because they can get it.

  6. I agree TOTALLY!  I was even on welfare at one time raising 2 children alone but had to be, but then again, I didn't go off and get pregnant.  I had to work hard to get off of the system to be responsible and now I am working to support someone else that has to be (and unfortunately people who abuse the system). Some people are literally takers in this world.  I was so ashamed to have to use food stamps when everyone looked down on me. It really hurt me to have to get help.

  7. more kids, more $, dirty spics want to take over your country, and people just let them! here in my country, there are people who have killed illegal immigrants, no joke, time to take a stand to protect your future..
