Why do women o****m?

Question

Since it is not necessary for survival or reproduction, why did women develop the capability to o****m while females of other species cannot?

Is it because we walk on our legs and o****m helps make women less likely to get up and walk around after s*x? Was o****m in women designed by nature to help avoid spillage?

While it isn't 100% necessary, it helps. A female o****m involves the contractions of her cervix, which makes it dip into s***n that is in her body, which increases the chance of her being pregnant.

One theory is based on the idea that the female o****m might increase fertility. For example, the 30% reduction in size of the v****a could help clench onto the p***s (much like, or perhaps caused by, the pubococcygeus muscles), which would make it more stimulating for the male (thus ensuring faster or more voluminous ejaculation). As others have said, it does serve a purpose.  It helps suck the sperm towards the egg.  

The way I see it, it also has a "natural selection" or "sexual selection" function as well.  Because males who are able to cause a female to o****m will have their sperm pushed further towards the egg, they are more likely to be the ones who pass on their genes.  Thus, inferior males--males who can't give a woman an o****m--are naturally selected against because their sperm is less likely to reach the egg than the sperm of a better male.

It's interesting, the clitoris is the ONLY organ in teh whole body that is designed for only one reason, pleasure.

I'd guess that biologically like men, women are designed to desire and get pleasure for s*x. If they didn't then by this time that we are completely civilised we just wouldn't pro create and humanity would die out.

The clitoris is not that close to the v****a so that childbearing does not damage it. Neat huh?

I've watched the Science Channel, and National Geographic enough to know that unlike what they used to think, females of other species do derive a lot of pleasure from s*x.

Since human females do not enter an estrous cycle, desire was necessary to induce the s*x act.  Also, o****m has a tendency to propel sperm in the direction of the egg needing fertilization.

Women have the ability to enjoy s*x as much as males do, and in heterosexual s*x, the female o****m can assist in reproduction.   And I don't know what makes you assume that no other female creatures can o****m.

If women could not o****m, they would not even bother having s*x!   Maybe she would just to have a child...  s*x is not just for reproducing, though.  It is also for just feeling really good, and that is something that women can enjoy, too - not just men.

The better question would be why there is a difference in the time it takes between the two genders. Men can 'O' within a minute, whereas women take forever.

why would we want s*x if it isnt a benefit to us as well? I think its natures way of convincing us to reproduce because it feels good.

You might as well ask why is ejaculation pleasurable for men - it doesn't have to be. There's not a total consensus on whether it is or isn't for other male animals. But anyway: firstly, s*x is not all about reproduction for humans. No, it's not. We have s*x recreationally. I don't mean with contraceptive, I mean when we are not ovulating. It's part of our social binding and relationship binding. And for that to happen, we have to enjoy it. Also conditioning - the more you enjoy something, the more often you do it = greater chance of reproduction. Plus it alters the ph in the uterus to one more beneficial to sperm. Which was a totally serious answer to a question I suspect was both not serious and slightly creepy.

Actually, female o****m does contribute to reproduction. When a woman orgasms, her cervix contracts in such a way as to make it easier for sperm to enter the uterus.

I will try to find a source for you but I saw a video on TLC or PBS where it showed these contractions; it looked like the cervix was actually sucking in the sperm. it was really cool.
