Why do women take such offense at being called "dogs"?

Is there something special about the word "dog".

How is dog any worse that say ......cow.

Oh no, being called a cow is worse because that is saying you are fat! I have never been called either, but if someone called me a dog I would just laugh.

If you call someone or something a dog, it is a derogatory remark.

I'm a woman and I would not get offended if you called me a dog it would have to be AFTER I called you a big lump of smelly pig stool.
