Why do working people, plumbers and nurses etc., elect aristocrats to congress and white house?

mom says that is what is the matter and will never vote for a lawyer. i am not sure what an aristocrat is but mom says they are in the democrats and republicans so they win either way.

Aristocrats are in Europe - titles aren't recognized in the US.

It takes an education of some sort to run for office. A candidate for office has to be able to speak in public, lawyers have to speak in court.

In order to make laws, one has to understand something about the judicial system. We have many more professionals seeking office.

I would vote for the person you think will work for you when elected.

I send letters/e-mails to my elected officials to make sure they know how I think and what they are supposed to do (for me) while in Washington or state capitol.

i personally think that people who work 40 plus hours a week at a job , always hold out that hope that somebody will make everything all right, someone who talks the talk, makes us feel good . but that is what a politician is, they basically are used car salesman,and the car they are selling is there agenda, but thats my opinion, i work 40 plus hours a week in a hospital.

Truth be told. We really have no choice. The "aristocrats" are the ones that have the money to pay for running for office. The rest of us have to pay rent and feed our families.

That's just the way I see it.

Because unfortunately most hard working people believe lies before they read for themselves the truth. The best way to educate yourself about career politicians is to read your local and national newspaper to see exactly what the people are voting on. Also if you can get cable, check out c-span.

There are leaders and followers, with most people being in the category of followers.  What your Mom didn't tell you is that to become a lawyer, it takes seven years of college and passing a bar examination that many could never pass.  Like any other field, some are in it just for the money, but believe it or not, some are brilliant people who work to make life better for everybody.  Barak Obama is an exceptionally bright person who is a Constitutional Lawyer and has taught Constitutional law in Chicago.  Would you rather have a lawyer running the Oval Office, or a plumber?  If hard work and philanthropic background makes him an aristocrat, I think you'd find some argument there!

BECAUSE OUR NATION DOES NOT WANT TO PAY FOR AN NATIONAL ELECTION FUND.  THAT WOULD MAKE IT SO ORDINARY PEOPLE COULD AFFORD TO RUN FOR OFFICE, PEOPLE WITH INTEGRITY AND HONESTY.

RIGHT NOW THE CONGRESS IS CORRUPT, THEY TAKE TAXPAYER MONEY (WITH EARMARKS) (PORK SPENDING) THAT ACTUALLY LINES THEIR OWN PURSE/POCKETS IN A ROUND A BOUT WAY THAT IS NOT ILLEGAL, YET IT IS CORRUPT.

DON'T EVEN GET ME STARTED ON THE MAFIA UNION INFLUENCE IN GOVERNMENT.

Can you name a plumber or a nurse who is running for President, even for a third party and not the Republicans or Democrats?  

The reason you can't is that they don't run.  They don't run because it costs money to run.  And they don't have much money as compared to the people who do run.
