Question:

Why do workmen swear so much when talking to each other?

Honestly, they really do, especially mechanics, office workers and builders. In my last job I was working in, when the mechanics were having their break and I was just working around them, they would talk amongst themselves and in almost every single sentence they spoke to each other, they repeatedly used the word f**ck. Honestly, in almost EVERY SINGLE SENTENCE they spoke to each other, they couldn't say it without using the F-word.

Why? Even in the job I have now, a few of the office workers talk to each other in F-language! Why do they do it? Do they think they sound cool or something? Every time I hear people talking like that and swearing constantly, it really bugs me a lot. I find it so disgusting and I'm thinking to myself, "can you guys say ONE SINGLE SENTENCE without swearing, just one?"

WHY do they swear so much?! Thank you.

  1. Its just words. Even more fundamentally, it is just vibration being varied by the mouth and vocal chords and being recieved and interpreted by you ears and brain.

Is it physically painful for you to absorb these vibrations? If not, why does it bother you? Is it because when you were a child, you were taught that these words should cause you to be offended?

Think about it. It doesn't affect you, it doesn't even concern you. It doesn't cause you pain. You just, for some reason, cannot bear to hear those particular sounds?

I simply cannot understand this sort of reaction.  I could understand if you were upset over the CONTENT (for example, if you overheard a description of a disgusting or cruel event).  But to simply be offended by the words themselves is absurd.

  2. Becuase they are uneducated and lack etiquette

  3. you have to be  a guy to understand it ,i cant explain it to you .

  4. Well I dont know, Im a guy and I hear the same thing. It bothers me too! Its just not classy....

  5. because were manly its what we do

  6. swearing is pretty common with people.  you can't expect them to stop being who they are just because they got a job.  if you don't like it when the men and women around you swear, then get away from them.  it may be unprofessional but you should be adult enough to ignore it.  that's what I do.

  7. Because they just find it fun using the type of vocabulary. They think it explains the sentence in much more detail. They could actually not use it but they just use it so it sounds more convincing, and sometimes just so it sound funnier. I'd suggest u just ignore them cause they're just being immature...

  8. just because of habbit.

but why are u interesting in that.

  9. You know what, that is a good question. I don't like it either but you should hear how high school students talk these days...it's no better and girls and guys both talk that way. I think it comes down to poor parenting.

  10. It's what common people do.

  11. f*ck is a quick and simple word requiring no brain power.  I don't like it either.

I would have liked that to be my answer but YA wanted a longer answer with research, so I added this.

  12. Yea i agree with you....it's a guy thing lol. It's starting to rub off on me at my job, i hardly ever use the F word to often but since i've been working at this job i find myself using it a lot more, i mean i'm starting to use it a lot at work and i'm starting to bring it home now lol. I'm starting to catch myself now and get myself together. I guess it's testosterone, I remember when I first heard these guys talking like that and thinking to myself this is starting to get annoying and now I'm becoming one of them.......I gotta straighten myself out haha. Good question, star this one
