They die in the sun? Do they not want to live? I hate walking on side walks after it rains.

  1. Earthworms breathe through their skin.  Their skin must be moist to do this but too much moisture impedes oxygen absorption.  So when it rains and the soil becomes saturated, the worms surface so they can regulate their breathing.

The down side is that if it is raining really hard, the surface is no better than the soaked soil.  Plus, when the sun comes out, the worms can dry out quickly and die if they don't return underground.

  2. Worms breath through their skin, and to do that, it needs to stay moist. When it rains, worms take the opportunity to travel faster on the surface of the ground, and not be in danger of drying up.

  3. i think its because they want to get moistered.

  4. some of them live inside the soil, like the centipede, millipede, earthworm and even scorpion in the soil of some plants, they live inside , so when raining, the soil is full of water and wet, they can't stand so they move to our house

worms that die in the sun is the earthworm, not they don't wanna live but it's too hot and they can't stand it too

  5. when it rains the water seeps down into the soil thereby disturbing their habitat so worms come out of the soil .

  6. they problaly come because its easy 4 them to slide.
