I need to know why they need moisture to survive?

  1. Worms have a slimy coating that they use to move around the soil with.  If it's too dry, it makes mobility a little tougher.  You can find traces of their slime sometimes in soil pits as well as their castings.


  2. they like humid soil because it is easier to burrow through ,they dont like it water logged ,than the y leave
