Question:

Why do yankees fans not realize that they by themselves into the playoffs?

Yankees fans i know always say that they don't and give examples of a few small budget teams that compete. But think about it, the same small budget teams don't compete every year, but the big budget teams do every year because they can by the best players available. They don't earn the playoffs by good farm teams, like the Rockies last year. They by themselves playoff berths.

  1. They do realize it....they just don't wanna admit

  2. You're using "by" instead of "buy". That's something you learn in like 2nd grade. Don't get mad at the Yankees just because the owners of small market teams are cheap and more concerned with making a profit than winning.

  3. learn to spell the word "buy"

and certainly you can't say the yankees have been by-ing themselves championships lately, because they haven't won one since 2000...consecutive playoff berths don't matter, championships do, and everyone can see how the playing field is being leveled by revenue sharing when small market teams like the marlins in '03 are capable of winning the whole thing

  4. Because Yankees fans are ignorant and over half of them cheer for the Yankees because they win often... which gets the Yankees extra revenue from sales. It's a downward spiral from there. Anyone who is a Yankee fan has sold their soul to the devil...  George Steinbrenner. And still after all of this their arrogant and brag about how their team is consistently the best when based on their payroll they suck.

  5. Yes the Yankees do have one of the larger payrolls along with the Red Sox. But you can't "buy" your way in baseball that easily, I mean they haven't won a championship in 7 years.

However, you can't deny that Yankees have an advantage due to their budget and all that c**p about them having home grown players is BS cause if they were a low budget team they can't even dream of keep people like Jeter and Posada.

  6. haha i love the guy that said that yankee fans are ignorant and that people root for a winning team. Have you heard of something called the Red sox nation? This term wasnt made until the red sox finally won the world series, and its not only the yankees with a big budget, the red sox are a top 3 budget team, so does that mean that the red sox bought the 04 and 07 championship? No and the yanks have one of the best farm systems, they get the big trades because they can because of the talent in them. Look at some good prospects.. Hughes and Kennedy were young and they will become very good starters, Joba will become one of the most dominant starters in the game. Melky will be among the elite outfielders in years to come, and Jeter prob one of the best shortstops in the game so how can you say the farm team is garbage?

  7. This is a ridiculous statement to make. The whole point of having a farm system is to help the big league club down the road. Not only dot he Yankees have one of the top 5 farm systems in MLB, but they are augmenting it by spending money to keep and supplement their players. That's why they win. Mixing trades, signings, and the like with farm players.

And stop with the idiocy that the Yankees "buy" their wins. Look at how many home grown players have been major players on their teams lately:

Posada, Cano, Jeter, Melky, Rivera, Pettitte, Joba Chamberlain, Chien-Ming Wang, Robertson, Veras, Edwar Ramirez... do I need to keep going for you?

These are major players, some filling key roles. Stop being bitter and face reality. If the "small market teams" would pony up a LITTLE cash to keep and sign a player here or there, they would compete just as much. The Yankees have leaned on their farm as much if not more than some other teams, especially the last few years with injuries.

  8. ok the Yankees and red sox payrolls are not that deferent. and the yanks have alot of home grown players

  9. Who cares about the Yankees, the only good thing about them is their manager who came from downstate Illinois.

  10. Not necessarily true. I don't like the Yankees, but I will throw forth this interesting statistic. No team with a player who costs $100 million or over has ever won the world series. Now if you count the money that the Red Sox spent to negotiate with Daisuke Matsuzaka, and then the additional money they spent to sign him, then they had a player that cost over $100 million, but his contract alone does not crack it. So, depending on what way you look at it, the Red Sox may have broken that statistic last year.

Just an interesting little tidbit to show you that they don't buy themselves championships. Anyone can play with them. Look at the Rays this year for example. It just shows the incompetence displayed by the other teams in their division in comparison. Now...I think it is bad practice to do what they do. I think teams like last year's Rockies and this year's Rays are a lot more exciting, but maybe that's because I'm a lifelong Braves fan, so I have always watched a team that primarily feeds from its highly touted farm system.

  11. You cant 'buy" championships if that was the case Baseball would not exist and the Yankees would just wait in October and get the Trophy and do that every year, but the reality is that Money cant and will never guarantee you health and sucess in the Postseason

  12. The games are played on the field, not among agents, owners and contracts.

High paid players still have to get on the field and perform.

Derek Jeter, Bernie Williams, Jorge Posada, Mariano Rivera, Robinson Cano, Melky Cabrera, El Duque....

These are just some of the "home grown" players that have been successful for the Yankees over the last 12 years or so.

Now go "by" yourself a clue.
