Why do yellow jackets like metal?

I always notice in the summer that yellow jackets seem to hang around anything that is metalic.

  1. Not sure, but I'd guess it's because metals are lustrous (shiny) since it has free moving electrons to reflect light. Perhaps that attracts yellow jacket wasps?
