Question:

Why do you consider McCain's Choice for VP a qualified one?

I'm asking because I really want to know, and not I'm not trying to be facetious.

My understanding was that her only governmental background was as the mayor of a town with around 10,000 people in it and I really can't see how that would remotely qualify someone to be the VP. Considering that if elected McCain will be the oldest newly elected president, there is a very real possibility she will have to act as president of our nation and I guess I'm not clear as to why he would do something that seems so ... irresponsible.

I really haven't looked too much into her credentials though so please enlighten me.

Thx!

  1. sarah palin was governor of alaska for 2 years. obama did no governing while being senator. mccain is looking to reform the politics in washington, so it makes sense for him to pick someone who has a record of reform in politics. it's actually a very smart choice picking palin.

  2. I guess Ann Coulter would not take the VP spot so we Sarah Plain Jane.  She is far to right she still believes the world to be flat.

  3. because she was a sportscaster at one time, that's all it takes

  4. She has a bachelor's degree in journalism, she's wants creationism taught in science classrooms, and she's been a terrible governor.  Her current campaign speech is a lie.  She says that she told the federal government "no thanks" to the funds for the "bridge to nowhere" but in reality she lobbied for funding for the bridge and it was stopped against her wishes.

I thought journalists were supposed to tell the truth, but I guess I was wrong :(

  5. I think McCain picked a female as a sneaky neocon attempt to win over the female, feminist, and disgruntled Hillary Clinton supporters. This does not surprise me considering how pathologically obscessed and selfishly greedy, bottom liner, outsourcing, privatizing, corportists the right-wing neocons really are. They will stop at nothing to attain their true goal, which is a totalitarian corporate controlled U.S. government where the elitists, right-wing w***e politicians, and corporate CEO's can rob the main stream "little guy" with absolutely no regulations, and pay no taxes.

  6. She is the Governor of Alaska. While I agree that she is not what I consider Presidential material and McCain's choice seems to be more for political drama than one of any substance, she none the less has more executive experience than Obama, who I also feel is not a qualified choice for President. With this group, we have the worst choices I have ever seen.

  7. The same qualifications that apply to be president:  you have to be over 35 and born in the USA.  She is qualified.  To be chosen by the Republican party, you have to meet party standards.  She does that as well.

She shows true conservatives values.  Further, she does not have a bad history behind her...unlike all of the rest running for president or VP.

  8. ya missed that she's a current governor.

Look up her "resume" on wikipedia, or Palin's site (http://gov.state.ak.us/bio.html).

    Here's another site- http://www.johnmccain.com/about/governor...

From what little I know she's a reformer who is a Washington outsider-which is good right now.  She is pro-life, a lifelong NRA member, she's brought a surplus to the Ak gvt by taxing the oil companies (i think its a surplus).  She has gone after people in both parties on ethics violations.

  9. >>My understanding was that her only governmental background was as the mayor of a town with around 10,000 people<<

You've been listening to Obama, I'll bet ("Today, John McCain put the former mayor of a town of 9,000 with zero foreign policy experience a heartbeat away from the presidency.") What Obama didn't mention is that she's the GOVERNOR of the state of Alaska.

  10. It's a blatant attempt to try to trump Hillary Clinton's loss to Obama. They want Hillary's so called disaffected followers. Other than that she's probably as qualified as Bush was. He was a Governor without a brain and he got elected twice so why shouldn't Americans continue being dumb enough to keep on biting on the Republican waste (t-U-r_Dz)?

  11. The links below should give you a general idea of her credentials.  She has a reputation as a reformer and has consistently bucked her own party to get things done.  I don't think she is the most qualified Republican that McCain could have chosen.  Its clear that he chose her to try and fortify the Republican base as well as draw on some Hillary Clinton supporters.  McCain only met with her twice before he picked her and really doesn't know much about her.  On NBC's Meet the Press, the analysts stated that he picked her based off her reputation.  I wouldn't entrust the fate of 300 million people to someone i've only met twice.  He stated that she was a soul mate.  Just like Bush said about Vladimir Putin.  Look how that relationship turned out!!!!
